Proper North

The alarm goes off at 06:45, roughly with the dawn. We leave the site at 09:45; it's a leisurely start to the day. Drove through Glasgow on M8, and headed north on A82.

L had genius idea of a SWIM in Loch Lomond on the way. N initially horrified but quickly won over by the spirit of adventure ... and the idea of 'getting one in the bag' despite the overcast skies. A quick bit of research suggested the beach at Luss, and Googlemaps was swiftly reprogrammed. Satellite view enabled us to park v close to the water, and in we dove ... well, waded carefully. It felt like about 13°, perfectly calm, no wind, lovely. Six minutes was enough. As we were getting dried by the van, a school trip arrived and started pumping up 20 paddleboards, a motorboat pulled up on the beach, and the wind picked up - so we timed it just right.

Onwards a few more miles along the Lochside (is that a word?), to a viewpoint and Bonnie & Ben's cafĂ© for a very welcome panini, flapjack and hot choc. Deserved. A walk was thwarted by rain. Next stop Glencoe viewpoint, imposing mountains topped by cloud and dark glens.

The end of today's 2.5 hrs driving is Bunree campsite, another CAMC site chosen for their reliable wifi needed for L's trustee mtg tomorrow. However, this site doesn't have wifi all over since the refurbishment, they now tell us. 'You can sit on the bench outside to get a signal' they said! Yeah, not for a 90 minute confidential mtg. Decided we'd have to move the van to the visitor car park for the mtg. Paid for our two nights. Then L gets email saying mtg postponed due to illness. Aargh!! Apart from that, site is great.

L did a run, part of her couch-to-5k programme, and I walked behind. Missed the rain showers, just. Our pitch has a view, but not as good as the 'no awning' pitches on the edge of the site. Had showers and washed swim gear. Quiet evening in van; many more of those are expected.
